Devbagh Beach and Dandeli Adventure Trip

Devbagh & Dandeli Trip
Devbagh beach is one of the cleanest beaches in India. We planned this trip to have a quiet, relaxing weekend alongside a beach, and it was a good choice. An island, exclusively, just for you! It’s a very calm and quite place with pleasing sound of birds, trees and sea.
Really great experience. As usual we went by KSRTC. Booked online AIRAVAT (VOLVO AC) MULTI AXLE tickets 0f 14 Jan 2012 night at 8.30 pm. On the way, at 9.30 bus stops at one the hotel for dinner. Early morning of 15th at 6.30 am, we reached Jungle Lodges & Resorts Devbagh office in Karwar. All families there of Maharashtra & Kannada culture mix and are of hardworking nature. Our check in time in Resort was 9.30 am & boat left from resort to pick us from Karwar. Till the boat came, we got freshen up and went for breakfast at nearby Udupi restaurant. We saw unique tree of Dev-Kadagi, a type of jack fruit grown in temples as well as beetle leaf plant in the office.
Location-

We liked the well organised pick up from Karwar and the disciplined activities most there. Resort is situated near the junction of River Kali with Arabian Sea. And it is completely surrounded by pine jungle. First impression at resort is of Wooden Cottages and net swing for relaxing in front of every cottage. There are also tent houses around the beach. Every cottage is provided with AC, Water heater, emergency lamps, and electric kittle for making tea/coffee. Room service is excellent. Immediately after keeping our luggage we rushed to see the sea………Allas! Sky blue water with white waves. The sand on beach is very fine and full of shells with different rocks. We took sea bath and then sun bath which was really amazing. Surprisingly, the water was not that much salty. At the surrounding of beach, showers are provided so that the skin will not get dry soon. After bath we were very hungry and tired because of which we had lunch and slept for one hour. Afternoon we had tea and enjoyed some water sport like KAYAKING. I did rope climbing also. After that we were taken on the jetty to see dolphins, but without much luck. In the evening we went to see fishing point near beach and most important was the Sunset at beach. Ojas is really a very good photographer and he took good snaps of sunset, I am taking some tips from him…..J. We played beach volleyball too. After that bar-b-que and bonfire was soothing in the cold evening on the beach; overall a very nice and amazing experience.
Definitely you will enjoy company of very good and caring staff and most importantly you will enjoy continuous munching of snacks and food provided by them. In the night you will have a very relaxing sleep. Next day morning the Guide there will take you to nature walk in the forest and into the sea for seeing dolphins. But unfortunately we can’t see them :). Anyways better luck next time :).

Really, watching sun rise with morning tea, long walks along the beach made us very relaxed. Not only this, relaxing on the beach and behold a glorious sunset as the lighthouse flashes across the distant horizon to guide ships to the port was great.

9.30 am was our check out time so we had brunch after that bath in the sea once again . Ojas had jungle safari half-pant for remembrance from there. We would love to be there again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We left for Karwar on 16th Jan 2012 morning for our next destination to Dandeli. A cab was waiting on the port to catch us. Near about it is three hours journey from Karwar. We reached Dandeli at 1 pm, occupied cottage in Bison River Resort, had our lunch `and immediately chalked out our plans and activities with the help of guide. It was our 2 night and 3 days package plan.

On 16th evening we had Jungle Safari, where we were accompanied by very enthusiastic and strong two young couples ;) from Bombay (actually retired couples). After coming from there we sat in front of Bonfire and had our bar-b-que dinner along with them. We had a very good group singing songs and doing general discussions. That was their last night in Dandeli, they shared all activities they did with us and told us about do’s and don’ts. From there we got enthusiasm that age is no bar for doing various activities. Next day on 17th early morning we left for nature walk where our guide shown us different species of birds. Immediately without wasting any minute, after having our breakfast we left for River Rafting in KALI river. Never carry any valuables along with you while going for rafting. Each rafting boat will have 7 to eight persons along with one guide. It was one of our favourite thrilling and joyful activity. We enjoyed it a lot …………J Why it is thrilling activity? one must go & experience …………..,it’s a top secret ;) . Rafting of 9.5 KM for continuous 2 hours is really breath taking but refreshing sport. One drawback is that we become very hungry after that .Hence as soon as rafting finished by 1 pm, we left to our resort. It took 1 hour to reach there. As I was in wet clothes, I met with cold & fever. I took medicine and slept for some time. Later in the evening, we did coracle ride. In this ride we need to only sit on teppa (circular boat) and they will have big round showing scenery in and around 50 feet kali river belt . We also saw Mahua tree near river from which strong wines are made. Had dinner & immediately went to sleep due to tiredness and feverish feeling. Next day on 18th 8.30 am we had breakfast & went for River Crossing and Jacuzzi Water fall Bath where I did photography. After all things got over, we had lunch and good nap afterwards because our check out timings were near. Just one hour before checkout we meet all staff there especially Sunil and thank them for his services. After that we sat for some time in front of river Kali seeing fisherman doing fishing . One jeep dropped us till Bus station for AIRAVAT bus of KSRTC. But very strange thing happen, the bus got cancelled due to only two passengers and we came to know about this after reaching at the station. Immediately we rushed for some other travels .By god’s grace we got tickets for two last seats. All this got over by 6 pm and still lots of time was there because bus was at 8.00 pm. The same jeep driver took us to the Crocodile viewing point, Dandeliappa god temple and at last Kali adventure camp Resort. There we had head massage in Kerala Ayurveda massage centre in that camp. We returned back to the market place but still 45 minutes was there, so we had dinner of bhakri, jhunka, mirchi thecha,…………etc. and coffee of pure malai milk in a 60 years old hotel of Dandeli. Sharp at 8 pm our bus left and reached Banglore on 19th  early morning at 6 am………..:) .
We enjoyed this Dandeli adventure trip a lot!!!!!!!!!!!
